OH NO they didn’t - oh yes they did! Muntsy’s and Strictly Fun! have put on a performance of Cinderella.
Among the audience at the United Reform Church in Weymouth were Mayor Kate Wheller and her deputy, Christine James.
The groups, which run across Weymouth, Portland and Dorchester, aim to develop individual’s social and life skills while promoting friendship and boosting confidence.
The play, directed by Cathie McGibbon, saw cast members nterpret the roles in their own way. They worked with musicians, parents and teaching staff to create props and costumes as well as choreograph dances.
Sue Munts, director of Muntsy’s, said that the day was a memorable one and that all the members had worked extremely hard to learn their lines and the songs, resulting in a truly entertaining and professional performance.
“As a team, we all feel privileged to have Cathie lead the way. She had the ability to bring out the very best in all ourmembers and consequently is rewarded by the talent and individual progress they make. Watching our young people grow in confidence is priceless,” she said.
The groups are now working on an interpretation of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, which they will perform in the next few weeks.
