FORMER Conservative MP turned UKIP supporter Neil Hamilton attended a meeting in Weymouth.
The politician attended a meeting at the Memorial Hall in Upwey hosted by the local branch of UKIP last nighgt.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council's UKIP councillor Francis Drake said there was a good turnout with around 50 people attending.
It had been hoped that the meeting would see the announcement of the party's South Dorset candidate for the upcoming general election, however, Cllr Drake said that they were still waiting for an email from head office before the announcement was made.
He said he hoped they would be able to make the announcement soon.
Cllr Drake added that Mr Hamilton spoke well on the night.
He said: "He was on good form and it was a good meeting."
Cllr Drake thanked all those who attended and said he was glad the event went smoothly.
