DO you fancy helping out at three of the most fascinating, historic properties in South Dorset?

The National Trust’s ‘Hardy Country’ team is looking for new volunteers to help out at Thomas Hardy’s birthplace at Higher Bockhampton, his home at Max Gate in Dorchester and at Lawrence of Arabia’s cottage at Clouds Hill near Wareham.

The volunteering will include meeting and greeting visitors, acting as a guide or, if you are more green-fingered, helping in the properties’ gardens.

The rewards include spending time in these fascinating properties and playing a vital role in bringing them to life.

To provide further information and encourage new recruits, the trust is holding two informal, drop-in information days at properties near Dorchester later this month.

The sessions are at the visitor centre at Hardy’s Cottage at Higher Bockhampton near Dorchester on Saturday, March 21 from 9.30am to 12noon and on Monday, March 23 from 2 to 4pm at Max Gate, off Alington Avenue in Dorchester.
