DORSET County Hospital has teamed up with a dedicated parking website in a bid to free up spaces in Dorchester.
The hospital is encouraging staff and local residents to sign up to parkonmydrive.com in a bid to ease congestion in the area.
The site allows people to rent out their driveway to someone who needs a parking space.
The hospital hopes to encourage people to sign up so that nearby driveways can be used by staff, relieving pressure on spaces on the hospital site.
Founder of parkonmydrive.com Heidi Cattanach has offered to donate £5 to the hospital’s charitable fund from each new space owner’s first annual fee.
She said: “Founded on the ethos of true entrepreneurship, Park On My Drive allows those who have empty driveways and garages to rent them out on a daily, weekly or monthly basis to motorists who have had enough of soaring car park fees, resident permit zones and the dreaded yellow line."
The parkonmydrive.com scheme is just one of many initiatives the hospital’s travel group is looking at to relieve pressure on parking at the hospital.
