VOTE for your top bird for Britain.
A new campaign has been launched to find a new national bird for the nation.
In the 1960s the robin was crowned as the nation’s favourite bird, but the red-breasted wonder could be about to lose his perch as there’s are some new birds on the block.
The national campaign has been set up by David Lindo aka The Urban Birder, a broadcaster, naturalist and photographer, to find out if the robin is still the nation’s favourite.
There are ten birds selected from a shortlist of 60 British birds and people just need to vote for the one they feel best personifies all that the UK represents.
Each of the 10 species has a special place in the hearts and minds of the Great British public. The nominees are: robin, mute swan, barn owl, black bird, blue tit, hen harrier, kingfisher, puffin, red kite and the wren.
The voting is done online and will close at midnight on May 7.
