CLYDE midfield starlet Ruari MacLellan believes the experience the battling Bully Wee have picked up from this term's successful play-off survival campaign can help them climb the table next season.

The talented teenager, who is under contract at Broadwood until 2010, also reckons experienced midfield duo Marvyn Wilson and Jimmy Gibson have helped him continue to develop.

MacLellan said: "It has been a great learning experience for me this season playing alongside Marv and Jimmy. Everyday you learn something new at training from them, like who to mark, when to come in, when to go and when to sit in. So I think I have learned a tremendous amount and hopefully I will get better for that next season.

"But the main thing for us is that we are staying in the First Division. I have another two years of my deal at Clyde and it would have been horrible to be playing in the Second Division.

"Now we have stayed up hopefully it will allow the manager to attract some new players in but I think from the experience we got from playing in the play-offs and the way it brought everyone together, we will only get better."

MacLellan was keen to salute boss John Brown's management as the key to their survival.

He said: "Bomber has given us the desire and the heart to fight anyone. I thought against Airdrie and Alloa, when we were down and out at 3-1 down, we really showed how much we wanted it. But when he came in Bomber put us on double fitness sessions and I also think that had a lot to do with our success in the play-offs.

"Alloa were part-time but we really ran over them and I also thought we lasted better and finished stronger than Airdrie. So the gaffer has got to take a lot of credit for all of that and the professionalism he has introduced to the club.

The Clyde star added: "I say we can set our sights a bit higher and look at climbing the table. We have learned lessons but we have also picked up confidence from our finish."
