A POET from Abbotsbury has published a new anthology.

Arra Lindemann has published a book entitled, ‘Talking of Nature and Other Subjects’, featuring some of her most popular poems.

The poems have been inspired by nature, past experiences, and music.

Ms Lindemann said: “It’s an anthology of my best poems; the ones most people love, the ones that sell the best.

“I have written more than 100 poems but it is 80 of my best ones.”

The anthology is split into seven sections. These include sections on politics and controversy, fame, nature, love, music and emotion.

Ms Lindemann said: “It was a big challenge. I had to pick the best poems. Where I had so many of them I had to whittle them down to the best ones.

“I had to think about what section and what order I wanted them to go in.

“It’s marketed at anybody who likes poetry.

“I tried to cater for a wide audience. I tried to get all my bases covered.”

Ms Lindemann was inspired to write her first poem after sitting in Nothe Gardens, Weymouth, watching a leaf fall from a tree.

The poet said she was also inspired by other poets including Ted Hughes, John Keats and Till Lindemann.

Ms Lindemann will be selling her poems later this week (Saturday) as part of a tabletop sale in Portesham Village Hall.

Money raised at the event will go towards the Portesham Scouts.

Ms Lindemann will be at the hall between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. People will be able to buy her poetry and ask questions.

She said: “I asked if I could do my poetry and sell it in aid of the scouts. I’ve got my own table and plan to sell as much as I can.

“I would say the Portesham Scouts are a really good group. They do a lot for the community and young people, giving them something to focus on.

“There are a lot of people doing their best to raise money for this.

“It would just be good to see lots of people there coming together to help out a local community and local charity.”
