TEN fire engines have been sent out to a heath fire at West Holme in Wareham.
Dorset Fire and Rescue received the call at 11.50am. Four Land Rovers are also assisting.
Crews are using hose reels and beaters to extinguish the fire, which Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said had been surrounded around 1.45pm.
The fire is thought to be on army land and part of the Lulworth Ranges.
A spokesperson for Dorset Fire and Rescue said crews are making good progress dampening down the heath fire but they will have a presence there for some time.
