THE results of the Weymouth Town Centre Masterplan consultation have now been released.

Residents, community groups, businesses and interested parties were all invited to give their views on the proposals.

The report of these views will now be taken to Management Committee councillors for discussion on Tuesday, April 28 at the Weymouth Pavilion.

The local group Weyforward have worked closely with the council to gather feedback.

Sarah Cairns, Weymouth and Portland Borough Council’s engineering projects manager, said: “Thanks to all those who have been involved so far, whether that’s filling in a survey, attending an event or commenting via Weyforward.

“This is an ambitious plan that needs the involvement of local residents and businesses in order to succeed.

“However, there’s still a lot to be done to make the plan a reality and development briefs and detailed design work will take place as proposals are brought forward for the town centre.

“We’ll be keeping the community updated on and involved in the masterplan as it develops. It is a long-term plan.”

The plan hopes to improve the economic wealth, physical environment and job prospects in Weymouth.

Councillors on the management committee will propose a final vision for the masterplan with supplementary planning documents for adoption by full council in June.
