HAVE you spotted this blue chair that has been popping up around Portland?
The bright turquoise chair will be popping up around the Isle over the next few weeks and months to help raise awareness of the Portland Centre.
It will be in a different iconic spot each time and people will be able to guess where it is. The first photo in the series includes the iconic view across the causeway towards Weymouth, as taken from the Portland Heights by the Olympic rings sculpture.
The aim is to raise awareness for the charity which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, and opened its new offices in Fortuneswell.
Assistant manager at the centre John McCallam said: “The idea is that it’s more to raise awareness of the centre and it’s more a bit of fun really- you try to guess where the chair is in that week or month.
“We have had people go out all over Portland to take pictures of this chair in different settings.”
The idea behind the chair was that it symbolised it was a service for the people of Portland, on Portland.
Mr McCallam added: “It’s for local people to see the chair and say come and sit down with us, with whatever problems you have and we will aim to help you.
“We deal with counselling support, housing benefits, employments, substance abuse – a whole range of things.”
