COASTGUARDS from Weymouth and Portland found a missing man who had got lost walking from Abbotsbury to Portland.
At 4pm yesterday afternoon, coastguards were alerted to reports that a man had gone missing at around 2.30pm from Abbotsbury car park after he had started walking towards Portland, but had failed to return.
Due to the size of the search area, three coastguard teams, Wyke Regis coastguards, Portland Bill coastguard rescue team and the MRU searched for the man along the coast.
Shortly after teams began searching, a person matching the description of the missing man was found approximately 500m from Abbotsbury along the coast.
The man, who was alive and well, told coastguards he had lost track of time during his walk and although he was fine he was suffering from fatigue.
He was given a bottle of water by coastguards and escorted back to Abbotsbury, and the search was stood down.
