MOTORISTS are warned a main road in North Dorset will be closed at night next week for resurfacing.
Bridge Street, the B3092, in the centre of Sturminster Newton will be closed for six nights at the beginning of June for Dorset County Council’s highways team to remove and replace the damaged road surface.
Cllr Pauline Batstone, local county councillor, said: “The teams are working overnight to minimise daytime congestion through this narrow street.
"I know this will be difficult for those that live in the town, but keeping roads maintained is important for everyone’s safety.”
Work will start at 7pm on Monday, June 1 and is due to be completed by 7am on Tuesday, June 9.
A signed diversion will be in place while the resurfacing is taking place. The road will be open during the daytime, but some traffic management may be needed.
The road will still be accessible for pedestrians and the emergency services will have access if needed.
