A RAFFLE held by the Loyal Manor Lodge of Portland has raised more than £500 for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.
The Loyal Manor Lodge held a masonic ladies evening at The Rembrandt Hotel and raised much needed funds for Weldmar.
Worshipful Brother Paul Cormack and Sarah Cormack visited Weldmar after the event, to present their cheque for £525 to Weldmar’s business fundraising manager, Jon Panton.
Sarah said "We had 94 guests who attended The Rembrandt Hotel in Weymouth and enjoyed a three course meal, followed by music entertainment from The Reejacks, and the use of a free betting roulette table, supplied Mayfair Casinos of Bournemouth.
"The money raised was purely on the evening and by raffle sales. The guests brought a wide variety of raffle prizes along on the evening."
Weldmar Hospicecare Trust cares for patients with cancer and other progressive conditions, such as motor neurone disease, who require specialist help. Patients in north, south and west Dorset have a strong service, whether they require care and advice in the comfort of their own homes, in the day hospices or the inpatient unit at Joseph Weld Hospice.
Jon Panton said "This donation is wonderful and the support from the Dorset Lodges of the Freemasons really is very much appreciated. It is only with the support of the local community and community groups that Weldmar staff are able to be here to provide services to local people at a time when they need us most."
