A BEAUTY expert from Weymouth is taking the internet by storm after gaining thousands of followers on social media sites.

Abby Barrett, 21, has forged an impressive reputation as an online reviewer of beauty products and often has international companies sending her products to review.

Abby, who works as a dispenser at local pharmaceutical firm Angel Pharmacy, has more than 30,000 followers on her Instagram page, and thousands more on her Facebook and Twitter accounts.

She has also recently launched a new Youtube channel where she has been vlogging – the term for when people post video logs on the website.

She has already had thousands of views on her channel, as she reviews the latest make-up and cosmetics sent to her by international firms such as fashion retailer Miss Pap, Benefit Cosmetics and Tesco.

As well as cosmetics, Abby also reviews clothes.

She said: “Firms send me samples of their products, such as clothes, make-up and cosmetics, and I do a review of them on Instagram or Youtube.

“It seems to be growing very quickly, and more and more companies are sending me items to review, which is great and I’m hoping it will continue to grow.

“It started out when I was helping out on a website that was selling cosmetics, and I did some reviews for it to help it get up and running.

“I then started doing it in my own time because I did a beauty course and I was interested in that area, so I thought I would carry on doing it.”

Abby, who films her Youtube videos herself and also takes her own Instagram photographs, said she was hoping to use her expertise in beauty and her reputation for blogging and vlogging to help give local firms a boost online.

She said: “I’m hoping to branch out a bit more and I hope I can help smaller, local firms if they want their products reviewed.

“I have already done some for hair salons in Dorchester, and I do review a lot of different items, and I also do tutorials so I’m hoping that could be of benefit to local firms.”

Looking to the future, Abby said she is hoping that her blogging and vlogging continues to grow.

She added: “I’ve now got some blogging friends in London and I’m just hoping it continues to grow and grow and get bigger and bigger, and hopefully I can help out companies in the area in the process.

"That would be great."
