A WEYMOUTH bus service operating in the town centre will be diverted on its route as bridge resurfacing works are carried out.

Local bus operator First Wessex is advising customers of overnight diversions on one of its services due to the closure of Buxton Road for bridge resurfacing work between 9pm on Thursday, July 16 and 7am on Friday, July 17.

The last evening Service 1 journey departing from Wyke to Weymouth operating along Buxton Road will be at 6.48pm.

From 6.57pm onwards, the buses running on this service will operate inbound via Cross Road and Wyke Road. This diversion will remain in place until the 6.40am service from Wyke on Friday morning.

From Weymouth’s King Statue, buses up until 6.50pm will operate as normal.

Afterwards, until the 6.50am journey on Friday morning, they will divert via Wyke Road to All Saints’ Church and Portland Road to Foords Corner and then as normal for the rest of the route.

Simon Newport, general manager at First Wessex, said: “Road closures like this are always unavoidable and we apologise to our customers for any inconvenience they may cause.”
