A SWIMMER who was feared missing after not returning to the Bowleaze Cove area of the town sparked a rescue alert for coastguards.
The Wyke Coastguard team were sent to the scene at 6.30pm yesterday, Sunday July 20, to reports of the ‘overdue swimmer’.
Both Weymouth Lifeboats were also paged and tasked to conduct a seaward search for the swimmer, but were stood down when the swimmer turned up safe and well.
One team member who was already at the scene liaised with Dorset Police and updated the National Maritime Operations Centre with further details of the swimmer.
