WEYMOUTH Camera Club is urging new members to join their 2015-2016 season and have the chance to show off their photographic talent.

The club programme varies from invited speakers who address all aspects of photography, to members sharing their expertise during 'workshop styled' evenings.

Competitions run throughout the year and giving members the opportunity to enter and gain valuable insight from the judges in relation to various aspects of your photography.

Chris Eaves of Weymouth Camera Club said: "The long days of summer and hopefully, lovely weather will entice many people to venture out and have a go at some photography.

"It's never been a better time to own a camera and the latest digital models have a vast array of settings and pre-sets to yield some potentially great images.

"There are certainly some great shots to be had, from evocative sunrises or the glorious rich tones of sunsets, plus all the different shades of light and colour throughout the day.

"But what happens when the days shorten, grow cold, grey and rainy - despite the best of intentions, the camera is often assigned to the back of the cupboard.

"Well, Weymouth Camera Club will be resuming again soon, and would love to welcome new members to share their 2015 -2016 season."

Speaking about their work, Rings, photographer Ted Toop said the shot was taken with the idea of having the view of the Chesil and Weymouth viewed through one of the rings - a simple idea, that turned into a prize winning photograph.

Another member, Rob Skerman said: "I had always wanted to photograph the iconic pier at Ocean Isle, North Carolina and this time, as the light was starting to drop I was under the pier, turned and saw the writing ‘life’s a beach’ chalked on the pier.

"Immediately I knew it had all the ingredients to make a great photograph."

The club meets on Tuesday evenings at the Centenary Club, Jubilee Close at 7.30am and the new season starts with a skittles evening on September 29.

Anyone interested in joining would be most welcome to come along for this social gathering.

The the club will have their annual exhibition of prints at the Mulberry Gallery in Weymouth Library from September 21 to September 26.
