WEYMOUTH will be seen all over the world when competitors take on a gruelling test of endurance.

If you're gearing up for Challenge Weymouth the smile- you could be on TV.

After a hugely successful first year, Challenge UK will be returning to Weymouth on September 13 to play host to the ETU European Long Distance Championships.

Just Racing UK and British Triathlon Federation have partnered up with the Weymouth BID and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council (WPBC) to enable global coverage of Challenge Weymouth 2015.

The event will be broadcast in a one-hour TV programme viewed all over the world. Channel 4, Sky Sports and Euro Sports will televise the programme to around one billion people.

Presented by the well-known triathlon commentator Rob Walker, the programme will highlight the incredible event and showcase the athletes taking part.

After the event, the film footage will be used to promote local businesses and the area in general in a bid to boost tourism.

This year's challenge is bigger and better with more than 1,500 athletes from all over Europe flocking to Weymouth to take part.

Starting with a two-lap 2.1 mile swim in Weymouth Bay, the athletes then embark on a 112 mile bike route through the rolling Dorset countryside. Taking in some stunning landscapes along the Jurassic Coastline, the bike course offers the competitors a chance to get a fast time with partially closed roads.

The competitors then set off onto the marathon leg of the race. Along the Esplanade and down the infamous ‘beer mile’, this spectator-friendly route enables athletes to get lots of support from family, friends and locals.

Familiar faces such as previous champions Stephen Bayliss and Yvette Grice will be returning.
