A WEYMOUTH snake owner is urging people to keep their eyes peeled for Sonny the corn snake.

Jill Baker, from Radipole Lane, in the Five Ways area of Weymouth, said that her two-and-a-half year old corn snake Sonny has gone missing and needs the community’s help to get him back.

Mrs Baker is urging people not to be scared or worried as Sonny is very gentle, but to get in touch with her if they see him.

Corn snakes are popular pets due to their calm temperament and easy care requirements. They have no venom and primarily feed on rats and mice. Corn snakes are native to North America.

He was last spotted on Friday evening and has not been seen since. Mrs Baker and her son Clayton have searched the house and looked everywhere they can think of, but the beloved pet hasn’t been found.

They searched behind the cooker, the fridge, the washing machine, checked all the corners and in the sofa.

Mrs Baker thinks he may have escaped into the garden through an open door.

She often takes Sonny out into the garden and under supervision he gets to explore the garden, or to have a swim in a paddling pool.

She said: “He’s friendly – don’t be scared of him. He’s such a softy.”

Mrs Baker said that she often took him to Sandfoot Castle and Gardens and people would have their pictures taken with him.

Mrs Baker said when he is outside, Sonny will often come and find Mrs Baker, she said: “That’s why I can’t understand why he hasn’t come back yet.”

Anyone who spots Sonny should call Mrs Baker on 07833522255.
