DO YOU recognise this man? He is being sought in connection with a serious sexual assault and could be from Dorset.

Detectives in Swindon have today released CCTV footage in connection with a serious sexual assault which occurred in the town centre during the early hours of Monday, September 14.

The short clip shows a man walking in the area of the bus station. Police are keen to speak to this man immediately in relation to this incident.

DI Marj Macallum said: “I appreciate this is a very short clip, but it is relatively clear – anybody that knows this man could recognise him from this footage. I would urge you to call police immediately.

“This was a very distressing experience for the victim and I cannot stress enough how important it is that members of the public who may have information that could help officers identify this man contact police. We all have a responsibility to help keep our community safe, and any piece of information, no matter how small, may be the key to our investigation.

“Understandably, this incident will have caused some concern for residents. I would like to reassure the community that officers are working solidly on this case and thorough and extensive enquiries have been, and continue to be, carried out. Officers have been painstakingly sifting through CCTV footage within the town and gathering statements from members of the public. We have received a number of calls from the public which are being progressed by detectives, and we have increased patrols in the area, especially during weekends and nights.

“Finally, I would like to thank the community for their assistance so far. Anyone with information should call Swindon CID on 101 – your information will be treated with the strictest of confidence. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
