COASTGUARDS were called to reports of an overdue kite surfer in Weymouth who was seen approximately 30 minutes before dark.
The full Wyke Coastguard team were paged at 6.11pm yesterday evening (Monday) to the Ferry Bridge in Weymouth and were asked to provide support.
Concerns had been raised about the possible overdue kite surfer and the initial response team attended the last known position of the possible casualty, and conducted a search of the area.
Whilst searching, the coastguard team spoke to campers who were based at the Ferry Bridge car park.
It soon became apparent that they had witnessed the kite surfer returning to the beach and departing the scene in their car.
The team then relayed this information to the National Maritime Operations Centre and were subsequently asked to stand down.
