MOTORISTS are facing lengthy delays after a three-car crash on the A35 Puddletown bypass.
Dorset Police were called to the incident at 5.23pm after reports of a a car leaving the road and colliding with a tree.
It is understood that the crash involved three cars which resulted in one of the cars leaving the road and smashing into a tree.
The incident happened on the westbound carriageway, heading towards Dorchester, near to the Bere Regis roundabout where the road splits into a dual carriageway.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said it was believed people had suffered injuries in the smash, but it was not yet known how serious the injuries are.
Paramedics are currently at the scene.
The spokesman for police added that workers form the local authority had also been called to the incident as there was a lot of debris on the road.
The westbound carriageway is currently partially blocked, and emergency services are still at the scene.
