A BOVINE blockade has formed on a major Dorset road as a result of a stray cow with no respect for the morning rush hour.

Traffic is slow in both directions on the B3067 Dorchester Road at Lytchett Minster, near to the Bakers Arms Roundabout, due to a cow on the road.

Police said they received the first of a number of calls at 7:47am, alerting them to a cow on the road near to the roundabout on the westbound carriageway of the A35 Upton bypass.

A Dorset police spokesperson said: "Officers attended, located the cow and we have made contact with the owner.

"They are coming to deal with the cow, which came through a broken fence panel."

The cow is now back in its field, according to police.
