In reply to Dave Owen's letter,Why are lorries still getting stuck?' (Echo, May 31). Here is why.

The warning signs that are there at current are like a chocolate teapot.

The signs are after the turning into the road of the low bridge - this for a artic lorry is useless.

This is because there is nowhere to turn around (without the aid of the police).

If you look yourself, the first signs you will see, is once you are on the A354 into weymouth. This is from all directions leading to the Tesco roundabout Signs warning of a low bridge, should be on the main roundabout sign before the Tesco roundabout.

With this they should also put up lorry signs on the road approching the Broadmayne turn off, sending lorrys over the 14ft 3ins height limit through Broadmayne and Osmington, then into Weymouth this way.

These signs are a brown background with white lettering. Until this is done, lorry drivers who do not know the area will carry on getting the bridge and getting stuck.

I am a lorry driver myself and this is the only bridge that I know of, that doesn't have a warning sign before you turn into the road.
