FIRE crews extinguished a vehicle fire in Weymouth in an incident believed to be "malicious".
Crews attended Williams Avenue, in the Wyke Regis area of the town, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
They were able to put out the vehicle, which was a severely damaged Ford Focus.
A spokeswoman for Dorset Fire and Rescue said: "We had two calls around 3.53am and Weymouth attended.
"There was one private vehicle, parked on recreational ground, which was severely damaged by fire.
"They used two hose reels to extinguish.
"Police were requested as it was believed to be malicious."
A spokesman for Dorset Police confirmed that they had attended the scene and that the incident was "under investigation".
