RESIDENTS are being urged to be aware of rogue traders operating in the area.

Dorchester Police said they received a report on Wednesday of an incident involving a trader claiming that some work needed doing to a person's property in the Eddison Ave, Dorchester area.

A spokesman said: “One male was aged between 50-60 years old, large build, 5ft 9ins tall and the other male is believed to be younger, taller and slim build.

“These males told the informant that his roof tiles were loose and needed replacing, when he told them he didn't have any money they offered to drive him to his bank.

“Fortunately the informant declined and these males left empty handed.”

Anyone with information, or who has experienced similar, is asked to call police on 101.

The spokesman continued: “Could I also ask that you share this information with as many people as possible, neighbours, work colleagues, family members, vulnerable members of the community, so we can get the message across not to deal with rogue traders. We would urged people to always check the company via Trading Standards or a recognised website to check their workmanship before they commence working on your property.”
