ORGANISERS are counting down to a day of family fun in aid of a much valued hospital ward.
Weymouth Rugby Club is preparing to host a day of food, music and activities for children on Saturday, July 23 to raise funds for the Purbeck Ward at Dorset County Hospital.
The ward is fundraising for a new dementia day room, which will assist patients living with the condition.
The event at the rugby club will run from 11am to 5pm and will feature music from the likes of Morgan Lilly, Odyssey Majorettes, Flashback Huzzah and Blazin Strings.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Weymouth and Portland have been invited and will judge a fancy dress competition.
At the last meeting held to organise the event, staff from the ward were delighted to welcome Helen Rewse, who had raised £2,000 for the appeal through a 16-mile walk after being treated on the ward when she broke both of her legs in a road traffic accident last summer.
Entry to the event will cost £2.50 for adults. Children aged 12 and under go free.
The event will also feature table top stalls, obstacle course, bouncy castle, face painting and crazy golf. There will also be a number of food outlets.
