SOUTH Street in Wareham was closed this morning as firefighters tackled a blaze.
Purbeck police said officers had closed the road this morning to assist Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue crews who were tackling a property fire in Harry's Bar.
Police said there was no access through to Stoborough due to the MS Charity Event on the Quay anyway today, but the rest of South Street had closed.
There were three fire appliances on scene and police urged people to avoid the area and seek an alternative route via Wareham bypass. The MS Event on the quay was unaffected.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said three crews attended a fire in a kitchen at 8.25am.
Crews wore breathing kits and used hoses and CO2 extinguishers to fight the blaze.
