ARTIST Hamish Baird is running a solo show at Tincleton Gallery from September 16 to November 14.

The self taught landscape artist travels the UK living a semi off-grid lifestyle in order to work as close to his subject matter as possible.

His work has been exhibited in Hampshire, Devon, Dorset, Berkshire, Shropshire and London.

Hamish spent the past year preparing work for the exhibition.

He said: “This is my first one man exhibition. My three most recent paintings have yielded the sort of results that I have been striving for and so I'm feeling really positive and enthusiastic about my work."

Hamish has so far lived and work in a 1979 Mercedes bus, a Mongolian ger (similar to a yurt), out of the back of a 4WD with a hammock and from October 2015, a touring caravan.

He works exclusively in oils and is strongly focused on light, depth of field, movement, and more recently, texture. At a distance his work may appear photorealistic, but on closer inspection, he hopes the viewer finds reward in the detail, fluidity of line and textural abstraction.

His focus is to produce works that create a sense of being on location, while concurrently uplifting the soul and reflecting the underlying atmosphere and energy of that space, at that moment in time.

The exhibition is open daily from 9am to 5pm. See hamishbaird.com for more information.
