A DORCHESTER jewellers has been nominated as finalists in this year’s Dorset Wedding Supplier Awards.

Neil and Donna Strudwick who own Goldcrest Jewellers in the Hardye Arcade are overjoyed to be nominated for the second year in a row.

Neil said: “We are the only company from Dorchester in the awards and we are in the accessories category for our hand-made wedding rings.

“We entered for the first last year and we were gobsmacked that we got through to the final. We didn’t know what to expect. Because we have now found our feet we feel we could make a huge difference and show that the smaller towns like Dorchester do have a bit of everything.

“Because we got nominated as finalist again this year that gave us a big boost and we want to really go for it and take on the big businesses and show what Dorchester has to offer. We feel like this year we can make a big impression.

“People don’t have to go to the big towns, there is Dorchester.”

The couple have owned the company for six years and has also been shortlisted for the People’s Choice Award in which they are up against big companies from Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Wimborne.

Donna said: “We really want Dorchester to back us and vote for us in the People’s Choice Award. We want to prove that it’s not all just happening in Bournemouth. Dorchester has a lot to offer.”

Organisers of the awards, South Coast Events, are very passionate about the wedding industry. Supporting local businesses and helping them to get recognition within their chosen fields is something they feel particularly enthusiastic about and The Dorset Wedding Supplier Award is definitely a highlight in the events calendar.

Neil added: “Our businesses is going really well and it is just fantastic to be recognised for what we do.

“And to be the only company from Dorchester too, it’s just such a big boost to us. We know we’re doing things right here. You automatically get entered into the People’s Choice Award but we are hoping Dorchester gets behind us and backs our business.”

The winners will be announced at the Bournemouth Pavilion on Friday, November 4.
