DUE to electricity supply problem between Farnborough Main and Weymouth all lines are disrupted.

Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 mins or revised. Disruption is expected until at least 8pm tonight.

South West Trains are unable to procure replacement buses to run between Bournemouth and Weymouth at present, trains are also unable to run and commuters are being advised not to travel between Weymouth and Bournemouth.

A spokesman for South West Trains said: "We've had reports from our signalling centre at Basingstoke that an issue with their power supply has resulted in a temporary loss of their facilities to run trains.

"We're working with the signal box to restore facilities and bring signalling back to normal use as soon as possible, however this is likely to have a significant impact on our services this evening.

"We are currently expecting delays of up to 60 minutes to our services and many are likely to be altered at short notice.

"We're still trying to establish the full effect of this incident on the train service, and we'll update you as soon as we can. Alternative arrangements and service changes are being planned and will be invoked as the situation requires.

"Basingstoke Signalling Centre are responsible for signalling trains on a substantial portion of our network, including all of our mainline routes between Farnborough and Bournemouth, and our West of England routes. The loss of their ability to run trains means that many of our mainline services will be unable to run.

"In order to help you complete your journey, we have arranged for you to be able to use your tickets on the following routes:  London Underground services between London Waterloo and London Paddington; Great Western Railway services on routes between London Paddington and Basingstoke, Exeter, and Bristol Temple Meads.

"Please note that Great Western Railway services are unable to run between Basingstoke and Reading at this time due to the failure of the electricity supply.

"We're sorry for the disruption to your journey this afternoon."
