THE winner of last year’s Dorset’s Got Talent is urging people to sign-up and show the judges what they’ve got.

Entries are now open for Weldmar’s Dorset’s Got Talent with auditions starting later this month.

Last year’s winner, Shermieanne Bull, from Maiden Newton, has spoken of her memories taking part in the show.

Auditions, the semi-finals and the final are all held at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park in Burton Bradstock and it is open exclusively to Dorset residents of all ages to showcase their talents.

Dancers, singers, magicians, dog acts, comedians, impressionists, illusionists and more are welcome to come and show that Dorset has talent.

Shermieanne, who was just 11-years-old when she won, said: “It was a fantastic experience.

When I started Dorset’s Got Talent, I wasn’t really that confident in performing.

“I was really nervous every round going up there and performing.”

Despite the nerves, she wowed the judges and the audience in each round with her voice, winning the final with her rendition of On My Own from Les Miserables.

Shermieanne scooped the cash prize and a family holiday to Freshwater Beach Holiday Park.

This year’s winner will get a £500 cash prize, the family holiday to Freshwater Beach Holiday park and a guaranteed performance at a Dorset festival in 2017.

Auditions take place on Saturday, January 28, Saturday, February 4 and Saturday, February 11.

Shermieanne urged people to get involved with the competition.

She said: “Definitely sign-up, believe in yourself. They are really nice people who work there at Weldmar.”

Tickets are now also available for the live semi-finals on Saturday, February 25 and Saturday, March 4 and the grand final on Saturday, March 11.

If you are under 16 and wish to enter, you must have permission of your parents or legal guardians before applying and must be accompanied by them at the audition.
