POLICE were called following reports of fighting at a cinema in Dorchester during a screening of the film Trainspotting 2.
A fight reportedly broke out during a screening of the new film at the Dorchester venue, apparently sparked by a woman laughing too loudly.
It was claimed that punches were thrown as an altercation broke out between two groups during the 6.30pm screening yesterday.
The cinema has confirmed that there was a "minor disturbance" but says its staff responded promptly and the situation was resolved.
An Odeon spokesperson said: “We can confirm there was a minor disturbance at one of our cinemas. Our team responded to the situation quickly and the problem was resolved.”
The cinema confirmed that police were contacted by staff at the cinema.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said they were alerted to reports of an assault at the cinema at around 7.50pm.
However, following officer enquiries, it was established that no injuries were sustained and the alleged victim did not wish to make a complaint so the matter has not been progressed.
