THE first acts for the inaugural Bestival in the grounds of Lulworth Castle, including the three main stage headliners, have been announced.

The festival will move from the Isle of Wight to Lulworth this year from September 7 to September 10.

The first four headliners as well as scores of other acts have been announced for the event.

The xx will be the first ever headliners on the main Castle Stage, with hip-hop “heroes” A Tribe Called Quest playing their last ever UK show to headline on the Saturday, and Pet Shop Boys wrapping up proceedings on the Sunday.

Jamie T will be headlining the second stage, The Box, on Thursday night.

Other acts set for the Castle Stage include Justice, Dizzee Rascal, and Soul II Soul.

Organiser, Rob da Bank, said: “Well what an adventure this promises to be, we have a beautiful new home with a massive castle in the middle of it, acres of beautiful woodland and forest, a sea view and the dramatic Jurassic coastline.

“Going back to our roots with Josie da Bank’s hand-drawn artwork, reviving all our favourite stages from 14 years of Bestival history and going out with all our headliners for the first time ever together, we’re pretty excited at Bestival HQ.

“From pop to grime, hip-hop to techno, folk to classical and every style in between we are reclaiming our place as the funnest, most adventurous, musically savvy and downright magical festival on the map. Please come along for the ride. and remember increase the peace”.

DJ sets from the likes of Annie Mac and Andy C have also been announced.

Commenting on their headline slot, the xx said: “Bestival was one of the first festivals we played, back in 2010, and it had always been a dream for us, we even begged to play the previous year. In 2012 we returned to play the main stage and we’re so happy to say we’ll be headlining this year, at the new site in Dorset. The Isle of Wight will hold a special place in our hearts but we’re excited to bring our new show to their new home”.

The Pet Shop Boys added that they were looking forward to bringing their new show to the festival.

Organisers said that Bestival 2017 is a “whole new world” to explore and there will also be “The World’s Biggest Confetti Cannon”, a castle fireworks finale and the World’s Biggest Bouncy Castle.

To celebrate the move to Lulworth, two one-off ticket deals are also being offered for the next 48 hours only, until Saturday at 7am.

A weekend ticket can be picked up for £150 or £190 with coach travel from a range of locations, available from Ticketline.
