HUNDREDS of bikers will be turning heads this spring as they take to the roads in the third Action on Addiction ride from Weymouth to Exmouth.

The event is held to raise funds for Clouds House, a treatment centre that supports people affected by addiction.

Organiser John Bramble, from Chickerell, launched the event in memory of his son Craig who he sadly lost to solvent abuse in 2001.

At present 124 riders have signed up to the event with nearly 300 who have expressed their interest,

Last year more than £3,300 was raised.

John said riders will be leaving South Coast Motorcycles on the Granby Industrial Estate at 10.30am on Sunday, April 2 heading for West Bay via the Coast Road. After re-energising in West Bay for about 40 minutes riders will continue onto Exmouth finishing at Queens Drive long stay car park on the seafront.

John said: "We are asking for a donation of £5 per bike please, the ride is 125cc and learner friendly, trikes and scooters are most welcome too. The ride will be marshalled and we have a recovery vehicle as well for the duration of the ride.

"Last year's ride raised £3,369.00 - let's see if we can better at the 2017 ride."

The event also has the support of Snack Shack and Helmet City in West Bay as well as Stika and Trade Windows and Doors.

John added: "For those who can't make the ride and would like to help me show there support for this illness they can go to Just Giving and search Charity Motorcycle Ride For Action on Addiction 3.

"No matter how small the donation every single penny helps someone with this silent illness get into Clouds House and hopefully on to recovery and a new life without addiction.

"We have ride t-shirts for sale at £5 each and ride badges for sale at £3 each - all monies from these sales go directly to Clouds House."
