IN RECOGNITION of Fairtrade Fortnight Weymouth parishioners will be taking part in a Big Brew.

On Saturday, February 25 between 10am and 3pm Holy Trinity will be welcoming people to enjoy a fairtrade beverage in aid of the Traidcraft Exchange, a charity which aims to fight poverty through the promotion of fairtrade.

Linda Perry, who runs the Traidcraft stall at Holy Trinity, said: “The Traidcraft stall has been running in Holy Trinity for number of years, and now we are supporting the Big Brew which is something that is happening nationality promote fairtrade.

“The Traidcraft exchange is a developmental run charity set up to support farmers and growers trying to form a company and gain fairtrade status.”

The coffee morning will include a range of fairtrade foods, including tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits available to purchase at reduced prices.

There will also be a selection of Cards from Africa and a selection of jewellery and small gifts in support of the Dorset Murugi community projects in Africa.

Money raised from the Big Brew will help the 70 per cent of people living in poverty in rural Africa who depend of agriculture for food an income.

Receiving fairtrade will enable these communities to boost their skills and their incomes meaning they are able to feed their families and keep their children in school.
