A MAN suffered a broken jaw after being punched in the face in an alleged assault.
Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses after the man was allegedly assaulted in the town over the weekend.
The incident happened at around 12.30am on Sunday, February 26 on St Thomas Street outside Rendezvous near to the town bridge.
It is alleged that following an altercation a 20-year-old local man was punched in the face by another man and sustained a broken jaw.
He was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 23-year-old Weymouth man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is currently on police bail until the end of March 2017 pending further enquiries.
Detective Constable Rhys Griffiths, of Weymouth CID, said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any further information to please contact me."
