A KAYAKER had to be rescued from Swanage Bay on Thursday afternoon.

Samuel Cobb was out on a new boat carrying out engine sea trials with other crew members, when we spotted the man in distress.

Swanage’s inshore lifeboat was tasked by UK Coastguard to evacuate a kayaker from a motor boat in Swanage Bay.

The motor boat had recovered the kayaker from the water but was unable to land him ashore.

The kayaker was very cold having been in the water for some time and required medical attention.

The inshore lifeboat was launched and was soon alongside the motor boat.

The casualty’s condition was assessed and whilst this was being done the lifeboat returned to the lifeboat station to collect a stretcher and some additional crew.

As this was being done an ambulance paramedic arrived and she was taken out to the casualty along with the extra equipment.

The casualty was prepared from transfer, placed in the stretcher and brought ashore in to the lifeboat station to warm up.

An ambulance then arrived to transfer the casualty to Poole Hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
