CANDIDATES for next month's Dorset County Council elections have been announced.

On Thursday, May 4, voters across Dorset will go to the polls to elect their local councillors.

Residents are being urged to register to vote at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or their district or borough council, as the deadline to be registered creeps closer. All voters must have registered to vote by midnight on April 13. Anyone wanting to vote by post must have registered by 5pm on April 18.

The opening for postal votes starts on April 18, and the polls will be held between 7am and 10pm on May 4. The results will be announced on May 5. The deadline for residents to put themselves forward for the election has now closed.

The county council’s electoral divisions were updated following a Boundary Review of the county in 2015, which can be viewed at https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk.
