THE deadline to be a part of ‘Dorset’s brightest weekend’ is fast approaching.

Weldmar Hospicecare are splashing colour over Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth, as they bring back the sell-out Colour Run event at the start of May, and potential runners only have until April 23 to enter.

The Colour Run returns for its third year running on Saturday, May 6, where thousands of runners will be splashed with coloured powder paint as they run through a 4km course.

To add to the fun, Weldmar are introducing their first ever Bubble Rush event.

The Bubble Rush will see up to 2,000 sponsored runners rush through a series of bubbly stations brimming with brightly coloured foam on Sunday, May 7.

Matt Smith, Weldmar’s Head of Fundraising, said: “We are extremely excited to be holding these two events. The atmosphere and feedback from the 2016 Colour Run was just phenomenal.”

Weldmar’s two Colour Runs have raised over £160,000.

As well as the main runs, Weldmar will be turning the events area of Lodmoor Country Park into a family fun weekend. There will be live music throughout the two days, along with Dorset food and drinks on sale, and fun events for kids. Both events are sponsored by Meyers Estate Agents.

Matt wants people to avoid disappointment by booking their place early. He said: “Our 2015 and 2016 Colour Run’s both sold out and we are expecting both these events to do the same. We had so many people earlier this year tell us that they really wanted to take part in the run but it was sold out.”

Weldmar Hospicecare cares for patients with cancer and other progressive conditions such as motor neurone disease who require specialist help, free of charge. Weldmar need to raise £10,240 per day to fund their free services, which include community nurse home visits and in-patient care at Joseph Weld Hospice in Dorchester, among other facilities. The fundraising events are important to fund the hospice care. Registration for the event will close on Sunday, April 23, to ensure that everyone’s participant packs arrive on time.
