The RNLI all-weather lifeboat from Weymouth was called late last night to assist a yacht which had suffered engine failure.
The lifeboat was launched after a call was made at 9:50pm last night, to reports that the yacht was stranded 20 miles south of Portland Bill.
Four people were on board the the 13' wooden yacht.
A spokesperson for Portland MCA said: "Coastguard Rescue were called to assist.
"The vessel was brought back to shore, and is now tied up. All four people on board are safe and well."
The yacht was towed back to Weymouth Harbour, with the assistant of crews from Wyke Coastguard Rescue Team.
