Motorists faced delays this morning following two collisions on the A35.

One collision occurred in Bere Regis between the Shell roundabout and Southbrook roundabout.

The road was closed both ways between the A31 (Shell Roundabout) and the A35, to allow emergency services to access the scene.

The road has now reopened.

Purbeck police tweeted that there were "significant traffic problems" in the Bloxworth area due to the incident.

Motorists were encouraged to avoid the area.

Police were on scene to direct traffic.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 7.47am to reports of a two vehicle road-traffic collision two minutes from Shell roundabout towards Poole.

"There are minor injuries involved.

"The cars were a VW Polo registered to a woman from Wareham and a white Ford transit van registered to a company from Bristol.

"The road is currently blocked."

Another incident happened further along on the A35 westbound at Halls Road through Slepe.

The westbound carriageway was blocked, and drivers had to use the eastbound carriageway to get past the accident.

The road has now reopened.
