PRIMARY school pupils covered much of their curriculum by running a café in French.
Children at Chickerell Primary School in Rashley Road, Weymouth, developed their mathematical and business capabilities on the project.
They also brushed up their language skills by serving customers and writing menus in French.
The Year 3 and 4 pupils even made their own aprons in design and technology classes.
Maths co-ordinator for the school, Karen Hocking, said: "The kids loved it and were very, very enthusiastic.
"They worked really hard."
The project was part of a national government scheme designed to introduce primary school children to a modern foreign language by 2010.
Mrs Hocking added that running the café meant the youngsters could improve in several areas of the national curriculum at the same time.
The children raised £46 through the project which will help pay for new maths and French resources for the school.
