A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy was injured in a collision with a car on Portland.

Police said it happened in Weston Road, near Courtlands Road, on Portland, early on Thursday evening.

Officers said the boy's injuries are not life threatening.

South Western Ambulance said the casualty suffered a head injury and was taken to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester for further treatment.

The road was closed for about an hour. First diverted its buses while the incident was dealt with.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We received a call from the ambulance service at around 5.45pm yesterday, Thursday, of a road traffic collision involving a car and a ten-year-old boy.

"Police and the ambulance service attended and the boy was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life changing or life threatening."

The spokesman added: "The road was closed while the emergency services dealt with the incident and was reopened at around 6.50pm."
