Emergency services were called to a climber who fell off a cliff on Portland.
Ambulance crew and coastguards were called to the scene near Cheyne Weares car park on Southwell Road this afternoon.
A spokesman for the UK Coastguard said: "We received a call at 2:30pm today to a climber that fell near the old quarries on Southwell Road.”
The climber was a 40-year-old man.
There was a climbing group with children at the scene but the spokesman said it was not clear whether the man was part of the group.
He said they received two calls in relation to the incident.
"The first call we got was that he had fallen ten metres and was on the beach unconscious. The second call said he was conscious and bleeding.”
He said both Weymouth and Portland coastguard teams were sent to the scene, as well as the ambulance service who co-ordinated a helicopter in case rope access was necessary.
"As it turned out that wasn't needed."
"The person was taken into the care of the ambulance and taken away for treatment. He was conscious and able to walk away, there was no major injury,” he said.
The man was taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment.
