Leaders of Dorset’s councils joined the Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, Councillor Kevin Brookes for a civic day.
The Mayor of Bridport, Councillor Anne Rickard and Chairman of Beaminster, Councillor Chris Turner were among the council leaders invited by Cllr Brookes for a tour of Weymouth and Portland on Tuesday, July 25.
The day began at Weymouth Pavilion with a talk from Joyce and John Fannon from the Thomas Fowell Buxton Society, and was followed by a buffet lunch at Osprey Leisure Centre on Portland.
After the lunch, the leaders visited the Castletown D-Day Museum on Portland where they received a guided tour by Derek Luckhurst, owner of care provider AginCare, who helped with the museum’s revival in March.
The day finished with a guided tour around Portland, followed by a presentation from Sebastian Brooke, The MEMO Creative Director, at Portland Heights Hotel.
Cllr Brookes has thanked everyone involved with the day.
He said: "I am very pleased with how the day went. I would like to give a big thank you to the chain gang for coming to Weymouth and Portland from all over Dorset. Also to the venues which allowed us to visit them and for their time and effort which made the day very special."
