CAMPAIGNERS hope to hit the right note with a fundraising gig.

A concert is being organised in Weymouth this autumn to raise much needed funds for the Lantern Trust.

Light the Lantern is being put together by Tia Roos, a musician and Weymouth and Portland councillor for the Melcombe Regis ward where the Lantern is based and carries out most of its work.

The Lantern Trust is an independent charity founded in 1983 to benefit vulnerable and marginalised people in the borough of Weymouth and Portland.

The Echo reported in July how the organisation would be finding homes for 40 people after receiving a £10,000 donation from the Deposit Protection Service (DPS).

The concert at the Centenary Club in Jubilee Close, Weymouth is on Friday, October 6 from 6pm-11pm with music from acclaimed local bands Jack Scrumpy & The Moonshiners, Million Dollar Bash, The Jimmy Hillbillies, Amy Hopwood and John Stone.

There will also be a live auction with the prize of a print of West Bay signed by Broadchurch stars Olivia Colman and David Tennant and donated by Renford Studios, Bridport up for grabs.

Cllr Roos said: "All money raised is to be given to the Lantern which is a vital charity helping vulnerable people to get into housing and covering a wide range of important social services, such as cognitive behaviour therapy drop-ins for the armed forces."

Tickets priced £5 can be bought from the Lantern at 2 Ranelagh Road or email tiaroos@weymouth.gov.uk
