Hi readers,

It’s been a busy and interesting week again in Dorset.

Take last week for starters. I went to Weymouth for a Friendship Club event on the seafront. After enjoying a plate of fish and chips in the Marlborough (which was delicious by the way) we all had a stroll along the seafront. It was one of those evenings which felt quite magical – a little bit stormy, a full moon and a beautiful sunset.

As we walked towards the Pavilion, we wondered why so many people were looking at the Sea Life tower. A couple of bystanders told us that a group of people were trapped at the top of the tower. Just then, a search and rescue helicopter turned up and we watched as they began to winch people out to safety. It was quite exciting to see all this going on, but mostly to know everyone was okay.

It did feel odd watching it on the news later, seeing what we had just seen in Weymouth now on local TV.

I’d also like to mention what a lovely day I had at Dorchester County Show last Saturday. I went with my parents, and thankfully it was good weather. Not only does the show seem to be getting bigger every year, the attractions are as good as they have ever been. I especially enjoyed watching the man who rode a horse while performing with his birds of prey.

It’s clear there is loads of work which goes on behind the scenes, to put on the show and make sure it’s such a success. Well done to everyone who made it such an enjoyable day for all of us.

Have a good week and please tune in next week. It’s a special one as it’ll be the 100th Our View Column!
