Dorset’s largest pet show, Pet Nation, is just a day away.

Sponsored by prestigious local brand, Westover Jaguar Land Rover, organisers are primed for more than 5,000 visitors.

Kingston Maurward College is the venue and up to 40 exhibitors will be displaying on site.

The dog show, which is being overseen by Margaret Green Animal Rescue, starts at 11am.

Classes and dog demonstrations will include the Most Handsome Dog, the Waggiest Tail, the Best Trick and Best Child Handler.

Cost is £2 per class and £10 for six classes. No bitches in season and no dogs under six months are to take part. Rosettes will be awarded from first to sixth place with certificates also for the first place. Winners of the showstopper class and the best in show will get their name and the dog’s name engraved on the shield.

Sponsors for the classes include A Unicorn Moon, Pet Portraits By Kerry, Wessex Trophies and Hound & Hooves.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Daily Echo and Dorset Echo for the Pet Nation event,” said Geoff Wright, chief executive of Margaret Green Animal Rescue.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for us to promote the work we do and raise awareness for our charity, while everyone has a fun time with their dogs.

“We are already looking forward to what will undoubtedly become a must see annual event.”

Meanwhile, Westover Jaguar Land Rover brand manager Andy Grant said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the event and have no doubt it will enjoy tremendous success - after all what family doesn’t love a pet show?

“Most of our clients have pets, whether they’re small breeds, cats, dogs or something a little larger.

“We’re looking forward to meeting lots of new faces at Pet Nation, so do come and see us on our stand.”

Echo editor Diarmuid MacDonagh said: “This is the first event of its kind, I’m sure it will be a fantastic day.

“There will be pets of all sorts and sizes and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Kingston Maurward College is hosting Pet Nation in its wonderful grounds and they are more than equipped to deal with all the animals of different shapes and sizes who will attend the show.

Westover will display eight of their newest Jaguar and Land Rover models at Pet Nation.

Tickets are £6 for adults and children aged 16 and under go free, available to buy online at adbooker.bournemouthecho.co.uk/store or available on the day at the main entrance of the event.
