Purbeck residents and visitors are being urged to dig deep into their pockets for a worthy cause this Christmas.

The Cards for Good Causes seasonal pop-up shop has arrived at the Purbeck Information Centre in Wareham.

Christmas cards are being sold in support of more than 30 charities including national causes such as Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research UK, as well as Julia’s House and the RNLI.

Shoppers can choose from hundreds of different designs depicting scenes of beauty spots including Corfe Castle and Durdle Door.

Councillor Cherry Brooks, economy and infrastructure spokesman for Purbeck District Council, said: “Buying these cards is one of the simplest ways to support good causes this Christmas.

“The cards not only generate funds, they also helps raise awareness of the vital work these charities do”.

The shop is marked by a distinctive triangular red Santa Clause sign.

In the past ten years, charities have received more than £40 million from Cards for Good Causes, representing at least 70p in every pound out of which charities have had to pay for the production and distribution of their Christmas cards and VAT.
